Facts- finding mission by Delegates from Asian Development Bank

Two delegates from Asian Development Bank (ADB) with Mr. Nihal Herath, an Education specialist for Education for Knowledge Society Programme (EKSP) Ministry of Education, Mr. B. Jayathissa, Provincial Project Manager for EKSP paid a visit to Nihiluwa School on 25^th March to inspect our Evillage programme. 

Mr. Amal  Gunawardhana, Computer Learning Center (CLC Manager provided a comprehensive insight from the inception of evillage programme implementation in eVillage. 

They also visited our second evillage computer lab situated in village temple premises.

Surprise visit by H.E. President to Nihiluwa Evillage.

Few minutes back, H. E. the President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha visited Nihiluwa Maha Vidyalaya. It was a surprise to all the students and the staff. The President directly came to the computer unit and examined our web site and our evillage project.  He also promised us to provide a Nenasala for Nihiluwa evillage

Partners in Learning Regional Innovative Teachers Conference 2010.

The Above Conference will be held in Singapore from 8 March to 11 March 2010. Principal of the NIhiluwa MV will represent this as our innovative teaching methods  .During past Three years we have been using IT as a Teaching tool innovatively. Our computer unit was a best unit in 2009 and currently conducting a evillage concept which will help villagers to improve IT knowkdge.Therefore our school selected as a best IT used School in southern province and granted this valuable opportunity.

IT Degree for Students under Donors sponsorship

Vindya one of our student has passed A/L this year. She is eligible for university.But One of our donor Mr.Gerd Gilles expressed his willingness to send Vindya to Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology to follow a Degree Bsc (Hons) in IT.This Degree is a four years one and consist eight semesters.Total cost for Degree and the other expenditures will be born by Mr.Gerd.We are very proud about this grate achievement and highly appreciated Mr.Gerd. Nihiluwa evillage started its work on year 2007.Promoting IT and the English are prominent objectives of our project.Evillage project was initiated and facilitated by Secondary Education Modernization Project of the Ministry of Education.Nihiluwa Public school has earned a name for IT field during past two years.This was a very first one to publish a web site in Tangalle Education Zone.Not only that we were the first school to use web blog writing and use of web 2.0 concept.

We have two more students with good A/L results. They eager to engage in IT education further, therefore Donors can provide sponsorships to follow IT Diplomas for them.

Lets give hands for this Talented Student

This is one of our successful stories of a student who proved his dedication and the enthusiasm for his well-lined future. Krishan Chathuranga De Silva young, skilled, dedicated and disciplined student of Ruhunulanka Foundation now in Colombo for further training as a Animator, Graphic Designer and Video editor. He starts to learn computer from Nihiluwa School and later joined with Evillage programme.At the first stage he was proved his dedication for this programme and within the short period, he won a PC from a Donor who is living in Canada .Krishan named as a best Blogger in Ruhunulanka Foundation. He always actively involved with Evillage programme.. Now He wants a laptop (used) for this training and He has to bear his expenses in Colombo. We strictly believed that He will firmly on his target. Therefore we would like to welcome Donors those who can give a help for this student to achieve his targets.

Heavy rain falls damaged Beliatta –Hakmana main road.

Due to a Heavy rain falls during last night, Part of Hakmana –Beliatta main road was completely damaged at the Godawela junction. There for Bus services are stopped and Government servants and the students have faced difficulties.Beliatta police arrived to the place and take necessary action to ease the inconvenience. Fallen tree across the road was removed by the villagers.

 

Three Day Workshop by Students from Colombo University

Three Days workshop is being underway at our computer lab with the help from Students of University of Colombo School of Computing. Five students from Computer Society University of Colombo (Comp Soc) reached to Nihiluwa on 16 September .This workshop mainly focus on Students who follows ICT as a O/L subject.

Mobile computer training Bus arrived to Nihiluwa

ASB The NGO based in Hambantota has sent their Mobile computer training Bus to Nihiluwa Evillage .They are conducting free training session for villagers and for school leavers on every Sundays.This Bus included well equipped computer lab and this programme was coordinated by the Divisional Secrateriat at Beliatta.
